Music has largely shaped Ed Curva’s life, his journey with music began in Brazil, where he is from, and followed him to Auckland, where he is now based. He’s spent over 20 years playing the guitar and skilfully but carefully pouring emotion and simplicity into every note he plays. His latest EP “Time For Myself” artfully draws from his musical influences, which range from rock and blues to gospel and indie.
Curva’s unique sound is supported by a tremendously talented band, consisting of Juliana Sian on keys, Hannah DK on drums, Marcella Adisurya on guitar, and Daniel Hurley on bass. The band is intentionally comprised of mostly women, making each performance not only a delight to behold for lovers of soft rock and soul, but also those keen to support the space the band has carved for women in the local music scene.
In contrast to his debut single, Curva’s latest releases are all instrumental. This allows his electric guitar playing to take centre-stage, singing melodies that ebb and flow, swelling in power and weaving seamlessly between being tender and being dynamic. He has also worked as a session guitarist for New Zealand artists like MOHI, Miakie, Bruci Jordan, Sam Manzanza, and Julia Dorry, highlighting his versatility and genre-spanning skill.
Don't miss out on the chance of experiencing the music of Ed Curva live. With his stunning guitar melodies and talented band, he's sure to leave you wanting more. Stay tuned for upcoming gigs and performances, and be sure to add Time For Myself to your playlist today.
