“Frank has nailed it with his recording Mundane Life Updates…….The Jazz spirit is very much alive and well on this offering by Frank Talbot.
Best way to understand what Frank is saying is purchase the recording and naturally support the live version when this material can be heard on tour during January 2023.
Support New Zealand music.” - Dr Rodger Fox, CNZM
After a number of successful tours around all parts of the country, the leading question from most audience members was “Do you have an album out?”, at last that question has been answered with a tour to celebrate:
“Mundane Life Updates” - Talbot’s highly anticipated debut album set for release through Rattle Records in January 2023 promises an eclectic set of often personal and programmatic music, testing genre boundaries while having strong roots in jazz tradition.
Talbot has led an extensive performing and recording career, having already recorded on numerous occasions for the Rodger Fox Big Band including at Bunker Studios in New York, with the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band and RNZAF Jazz Orchestra, Julie Lamb Outfit, The Dark Third, Endeavour Jazz Orchestra, New Zealand School of Music Big Band One, for award winning composer Tatiana Riabinkina and for the JM Jazz World Orchestra at the national television studio in Croatia.
Bringing with him an ensemble of the some of the country’s finest jazz players featuring Ayrton Foote on piano (Wellington Mingus Ensemble, C26), Chris Beernink on Double Bass (Arahi, Lady Larisa) and Hikurangi Schaverien-Kaa on drums (French For Rabbits, Dawn Diver), the group promises a tight and virtuosic performance.
“Highly Enjoyable and Refreshingly Diverse”
“A Sax Masterclass”
“Life Changing”
“New Zealand produces a number of great tenor players, and judging by Talbot’s strong performance, he’ll go from strength to strength”
