The Others Way Festival 2022 line-up includes legendary NZ band Dance Exponents for a very special performance celebrating the upcoming 40th Anniversary reissue of their chart-topping debut studio album Prayers Be Answered. In addition, Aotearoa music icon and hip hop pioneer Che Fu and the Kratez make an unmissable Others Way debut performance, while festival favourite Nadia Reid returns to entrance audiences this October with her magical full band, along with Anthonie Tonnon off the back of his 2022 Taite Music Prize-winning album Leave Love Out Of This.

Stellar internationals on the bill include; Brooklyn songwriter and guitar virtuoso Steve Gunn (USA), prolific Los Angeles beatmaker MNDSGN & The Rare Pleasures (USA), and acclaimed Sydney-based musician Laura Jean (AU).

More music from some familiar names; early 80s New Zealand ska-punk pioneers The Newmatics. Onehunga-bred hip hop collective, SWIDT set to drop electrifying beats and bars. Plus The Coolies, once described by Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore as "punk no-wave sonic heartstring buzzing clatter rock n roll".

Post-punk band Daffodils join the festivities, along with DJ and performer Vanessa Worm, renowned percussionist and production wiz Julien Dyne (Avantdale Bowling Club), and TE KAAHU - the reo Māori project of Ōtautahi-born singer and songwriter Theia, performing with her captivating five-piece band. And don’t miss Wellington’s ever popular power-pop group Hans Pucket hosting their infamous Midnight Karaoke Challenge where you too can live your popstar dream, fronting the band with a song of your choice. Sign-ups opening soon, with limited spaces!

Celebrated artists from all corners of Aotearoa are set to perform; Pōneke’s heavy psych-fuzz two-piece Earth Tongue, dream-fuzz group Mirror Ritual, and indie outfit Soft Plastics. While from Tāmaki Makaurau, guitar crew LEAO (Noa Records), led by songwriter and vocalist David Feauai-Afaese, multi-format artist Kelly Sherrod’s mesmerising solo project Proteins of Magic, MC and rapper Pollyhill, plus super trios Half Hexagon and Repairs.

Five-piece Polynesian metal band Shepherds Reign, Ōtepoti underground folk artist Maxine Funke, Kirikiriroa / Hamilton four piece Landlords, Port Chalmers-born Francisca Griffin with her band, the Bus Shelter Boys, melodic noise rockers Bleeding Star, Dunedin’s lavish psych-pop artist Juno Is, and rising Auckland songwriter Rita Mae all make a welcome appearance.

======
The Others Way Festival returns to Tāmaki Makaurau's Karangahape Road district for Auckland's most exciting music festival and street party of 2022! After a two-year Covid hiatus, The Others Way Festival is thrilled to be able to present what will be another amazingly talented and diverse lineup across some of the finest live music venues in Aotearoa.

The highly anticipated, multi-venue event confirms a new date of Saturday, October 22, during Auckland's Labour Weekend, with over 30 musical talents to be revealed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for the full festival lineup and updates on The Others Way Festival via their Facebook and Instagram.

Following the cancellation of The Others Way Festival in 2020/21 and earlier this year in January, the 2022 October edition of this one-of-a-kind celebration promises to delight music lovers, recapturing its place as an uncontested highlight of the annual Auckland event calendar.

Save The Date for the first The Others Way Festival on Tāmaki Makaurau's Karangahape Road since the pandemic's onset taking place Saturday, October 22 2022.

Festival Director Matthew Davis says: Off the back of multiple cancellations through lockdowns and date changes, we are incredibly excited to be back to celebrate our music community and the beloved Karangahape Road.

Not only can we look forward to seeing the festival go ahead in October 2022, but we are also looking forward to presenting another amazingly talented and diverse line-up performing across some of the finest live music venues in Auckland.

The Others Way Festival has long been recognised for supporting Karangahape Road’s local businesses. Jamey Holloway, CEO of The Karangahape Road Business Association, is relishing the event's glorious return next month: The Others Way Festival is a total calendar highlight for Auckland’s annual event calendar. After a two year wait, I can’t wait for this year’s edition.
