Western Australian alt-pop eccentrist METHYL ETHEL today announces a string of intimate solo performances across New Zealand in support of his acclaimed fourth album, Are You Haunted?. The tour starts on Friday June 3 at Auckland’s Tuning Fork, as part of the venue’s 9th birthday concert series, before heading south to Wellington’s San Fran on Saturday June 4.
Tickets for all shows go on sale 9am, Friday May 6.

Arriving in New Zealand off the back of a highly successful Australian tour, these shows are a long overdue return for Methyl Ethel. Delivering a blend of breezy dream pop and soaring psych rock that is reminiscent of names like Tame Impala and MGMT, Methyl Ethel is the project of the act’s frontman and chief architect, Jake Webb, who created the act as a bedroom recording project in 2014.
Over the last eight years, Methyl Ethel has grown into one of Australasia’s breakout indie darlings after achieving chart success with their second album Everything Is Forgotten in 2016. Now signed to tastemaker record label Future Classic, latest LP Are You Haunted? is Webb’s most undeniably pop-leaning and danceable record yet.
Performing an intimate solo set, these shows are an opportunity for fans to experience a direct and poignant interpretation of Methyl Ethel’s latest album, while also revisiting old favourites. Webb’s knack for exhilarating arrangements, addicting hooks, curious textures and propulsive, syncopated rhythms will be on full display.
