Violet Hirst returns to Pōneke for a special performance at Bedlam joined by Marty G and Strings. Hirst is delighted to share her favourite pieces of composition with special string arrangements by Martin Greshoff.
Dedicated to a late infatuation with Jeff Buckley, and her mother’s adolescent playlists - this night sees a story told through great songs from Buckley, Simone, Bush and Runga - a symphonic treat!
Violet has been living in Te Waipounamu this year, but her music has been shaped by, and spread around Pōneke since 2019. Her recent releases include a debut EP “Kindhearted” which can be heard on SRN networks over the country, as well as a distorted live album from a favoured performance at the Futuna Chapel in Karori.

Hirst is joined by Hikurangi Schaverein-kaa (French For Rabbits, Dawn Diver) on drums, and Phoebe Johnson (Revulva) on Bass; with arrangements and accompaniment by Martin Greshoff (piano) featuring Ellen Murfitt on Violin and Emily Paterson on Cello.
Martin Greshoff is a composer, conductor and performer based in Pōneke. He is a graduate from the NZSM and with several projects in fruition - including the Marty G Big Band. His classical and jazz arrangements have been garnering credibility from Pōneke musicians alike.
