Unsung Heroes are an Auckland band that bring New Zealand history to life with songs by some of NZ’s top musicians , narration by Peter Elliot and a slide show to cover the history of the area where they are performing . They are led by Chris Priestley who is a singer, songwriter and historian and has recorded 8 CDs/LPs 3 of which were Tui Folk Music award finalists on guitar .
He is accompanied by outstanding musicians who are :
Cameron Bennett , TV producer and current affairs journalist on dobro, acoustic guitar and lap steel guitar .
Nigel Gavin , award winning musician, who has played with great bands such as Nairobi Trio, Jews Brothers and Gitbox Rebellion and accompanied such Kiwi
singers as Lorina Harding, Whirimako Black and Wayne Gillespie on 7 string guitar.
Sonia Wilson , French born singer, who is now a New Zealand resident .
Peter Elliot ,well known for his roles in Shortland Street, Gloss and other TVNZ dramas will narrate the show.
Unsung Heroes start their South Island tour at St Mary’s church on Friday. Covid 19 restrictions will apply which will include signing in on arrival and social
distancing.
