Marianne Leigh and Danica Bryant grace the stage of Hastings' The Common Room in a thrilling double show of women's acoustic pop, indie, rock and all things in between. Having met under the mentorship of Kiwi icon Bic Runga in 2019, the pair promise an incredible evening of their respective original music.
Auckland's Marianne Leigh is an acoustic indie-pop artist writing catchy tunes about genuine human emotions and experiences. She speaks to the soul with her meaningful lyrics and connects to listeners through her narrative songwriting style. A three-time Play It Strange finalist, regional winner of 2019 Smokefree Rockquest final, and featured artist on multiple TV shows, Leigh recently released her new and acclaimed sophomore EP, 'Simple Things'. Ranging from smooth piano ballads to soft rock jams, her versatile sound takes on new shape when she takes the stage.
Napier-Wellington artist Danica Bryant bites back with hard guitar and pain-filled howl (The Hook NZ), sharing original songs covering brutal topics of adolescence, mental health and young love. Having supported acts such as Elton John and Foreigner, charted on NZ Hot Singles with her latest release 'Ready to Bite', and been granted development funding from NZ On Air, Bryant has a selection of tracks from both her debut EP 'Cider' and her upcoming unreleased works to share.
