Young Wellington university students have joined forces with our favourite local bands and newcomers on the rise to form ‘Rigged Flats’. Advertised as being at an “undisclosed location”, this is the coolest house party you will ever attend.
Headlined by Wellington’s much-loved Bad Hagrid, the “Alternative-Progressive-Regressive-Banana Brained-Ankle Sprained-Hipster Sister-SYNTH-Pop guru” of a band, promises an evening of psychedelic self-discovery through their story-telling lyricism that they can’t help but pair with jammin’ drum beats and guitar licks. The myth and legend that is Bad Hagrid boast of taking their audiences on journeys to ‘synthetic planes’ and Rigged Flats will be the vessel that takes you there.
Pre-seasoning the crowd with some of their sweet and spicy tunes is Sweetspot, blazing through the Wellington scene after their sudden formation and success at 2020’s Battle of the Bands. Known for their professional Alt-Rock sound, Sweetspot will be bringing out all of their well-known crowd-pleaser tracks, comprised of groovy hip-moving guitar lines and iconic vocal-fry anthems. Underdogs in their own right, Sweetspot is only gaining further traction the more noise they make in Wellington, and this one will be a night to remember.
Fresh on the scene Tinsy Pam will be opening the evening with their unique brand of melancholy music. Formed from the ashes of a high school band, Tinsy Pam brings all the excitement, energy, and self-proclaimed ‘cheekiness’ from youthful musicians, with the musical talent and maturity that comes from experienced artists. Beautiful, unguarded vocals paired with almost Hozier-stye guitar fingerstyle create the perfect opening for this intimate night, a house party to never forget.
