Since March 2007 Shadowplay has been bringing together all things dark and fascinating to audiences in Wellington. Specialising in live bands, DJs and performance artists, Shadowplay has something for every connoisseur of the weird and the wonderful. Whether your music tastes are goth, industrial, post punk, darkwave or you have an interest in arts and performance then Shadowplay will cater to what your soul is craving.
In January 2021 Shadowplay will be bringing their biggest show yet to Wellington. A three night Festival of darkness: Gathering Shadows.
Over three nights and two venues attendees will be treated to a variety of some of the best bands and Djs from across the country.

Low Vision - Nouveau synthy goth-step and spooky doom noise.
Slow - Slow soundtracks your break-ups and break-downs and will happily play at the wake of your enemies. Shoegaze shuffle for romantic skeptics.
Robots In Love - Darkly beautiful electronic music created by Elenor Rayner which moves easily from ethereal to industrial.
After The Flesh - Brings you white hot licks, gloomy synths and straight up bangers perfect for drac wedding receptions and cemetery picnics.

DJ Nightmare 666 - A pillar of Aotearoa's dark underground, His electrifying and eclectic sets reflect his extraordinary music collection and knowledge. Dance 'til you’re dead.
DJ Passion Crypt - Auckland’s premier lord of darkness and passion who spins a curation of post punk, darkwave, gothic rock and 80s hits.
DJ Regress - The founder of Christchurch’s Sanctuary Events specialising in the alternative 80s featuring post-punk, goth, darkwave and more.

Horror In Clay - Channels the psychic equivalent of the Oprah Winfrey book club to bring the Sesame Street lottery results.
Mina’s Veil - Plays darkly romantic concertos for soprano and orchestra, invoking the spirits of Byron, Shelley and Poe.
Undiscovered Moons of Saturn - Bringing disharmonic ritual doom and heavenly chaotic melodies that draw you into the magellanic abyss.
Barnabas Bludd - Poetry, music, noise, strange voices.
