21 year old electronic producer Leaping Tiger is scheduled to drop his long-awaited debut album ‘Porcelain Orca Whales’ on January 24th featuring the likes of Church & AP, Maxwell Young & Disciple Pati.
Initially slated for an October 31st release, ‘Porcelain Orca Whales’ was pushed to refine the touches on the highly anticipated debut album. However, now it is here in its full 10-track glory. ‘Porcelain Orca Whales’ is the second project from Leaping Tiger after the release of his debut EP ‘Cool Down’ back in 2018. Taking a step-up, the full length project naturally came together.
‘After realising I had a few tracks that worked really well together I decided to just go for it and work towards a full album. The album took quite a while to make just to make everything as good as I could get it to be.‘
‘Screwface’ was the second single released, featuring Church & AP, Disciple Pati and JY Lee has amassed over 50,000 and sets the tone for the spiralling and unconventional album. The stacked track sets the tone for the album by combining elements than traditionally don’t work together. Leaping Tiger also brings in close friend and Auckland based musician Maxwell Young for their first collaboration.
The rest of the album sits between the experimental and electronic landscape, ranging from mellow tracks such as ‘The Makings of You’ and ‘Kiss’ to up-tempo groovers ‘Surefire’ and ‘Black Plastic’.
