The Response and Josie Moon
Moon (Wellington) - Thursday January 9th
Tickets $10+BF / Door $15
Christchurch based Alt Pop duo The Response are hitting the road over summer to celebrate the release of their new album Escaping This Cold Rotation on December 6th. Recorded between Vancouver and their home of New Zealand the album's fifteen tracks explore the cyclical nature of human thought through adversity while digging deeper into the electronic textures and energetic percussion that have become the duo's signature. Early singles 'Tallest Walls' and 'Practical' have drawn comparisons to Broods, Mura Masa and The 1975.
After meeting at Jazz School and refining their sound through several releases and a stint living in Canada, The Response craft alternative pop songs that are both introspective and energetic. The Christchurch native band perform as a duo, combining a variety of live electronic instruments with guitar and vocals resulting in a familiar yet entirely unique sound.
22 year old Josie Moon is a singer-songwriter hailing from Wellington, New Zealand. With a hypnotic and nostalgic approach to electronic pop music, she strives to mesh genres and to make heavier themes of self-exploration and healing accessible in the mainstream.
Not shy of the stage, Moon has clocked live performances alongside Tash Sultana, Chelsea Jade, and Physical, and has appeared at Rhythm and Vines Festival & Other’s Way Festival, plus many more.
