Note: tickets include the cost of train travel to and from the show - so show times are listed as the time the train departs Dunedin Station.
Anthonie Tonnon is presenting a new edition of his Rail Land show, with a national tour this summer.
Rail Land is a tour celebrating passenger rail in Aotearoa. Each show, performer and audience travel together by passenger rail, reaching some of our most extraordinary community venues.
The tour makes use of publicly scheduled trains in the North Island - choosing new destinations, and travelling to early 20th century town halls in the Auckland and Wellington rail systems.
In the South Island, where similar train services ceased in decades past, the show will charter trains, to bring evening rail services to life for one summer twilight.
Rail Land attendees in Dunedin will travel on the spectacular line to reach the Waitati Hall with the help of sponsor, Dunedin Railways. For the first time, the tour will also reach Canterbury, taking the Weka Pass Railway from Glenmark to Waikari, with a special connecting bus available for those in Christchurch.
The show itself is a theatrical extension of Tonnon’s live set. It mixes new songs with rarely-played older ones, and links them together with a narrative, and custom made music. After five performances of the 2018 show last summer, and special encores in 2019, Tonnon is presenting an all-new version of Rail Land for the end of this year.
