Sulfate - Peter Ruddell 1/3 of New Zealand's “guitarless guitar band,” noise-rock trio Wax Chattels, joined by David Harris (Jonathan Bree, Princess Chelsea) on drums - announces an Australasian tour this November/December!
Sulfate made their first live appearance at Auckland City's underground bar and music venue The Wine Cellar back in July. Since then, they have completed a headlining North Island tour, recorded and released their debut self-titled album Sulfate to critical acclaim,
- If the idea of gothic (dis)comfort is appealing, then lie back and enjoy your medicine. - Graham Reid, Elsewhere album review
- Conjuring a romantically-tinged downer buzz in the best possible way - undertheradar album review
Their singles 'Speaking For Others' and 'Bush' charted on the New Zealand Radioscope and the duo performed as part of the lauded The Others Way Festival 2019. Now, they are about to embark on a ten date Australasian tour (five of those shows are in Melbourne!) this November and December.
Live, Sulfate has already been referred to as ‘startling’, ‘sonorous’; Ruddell’s keyboard work ‘crushing-yet-considered'. - Ambient Light
