For the first time in New Zealand, radical rap superstar Brooke Candy will perform an exclusive one night show at Auckland’s Whammy Bar on Sunday December 9th. Fresh off of her recent asian tour last week, Brooke Candy has been vacationing in Aotearoa with just enough time to perform a last minute spectacle before returning to the US.
Candy rose to prominence in 2012 when she starred in Grimes’ music video for ‘Genesis’, and soon became a prominent figure in the underground cyber punk rap scene. Candy appeared on Charli XCX’s ‘Cloud Aura’ and dropped her first solo single ‘Das Me’ in 2012. In 2013 she released singles ‘Everybody Does’ and ‘I Wanna Fuck Right Now’, all of which she independently released music videos for. In 2014 Candy signed a major label record deal with RCA, followed by the release of her Sia co-written and Diplo produced single ‘Opulence’. Candy released her debut EP of the same title later that year, praised by critics for its rebellious, experimental production and risqué, alt-rap riot. Candy released several songs with RCA from 2015-2017, including Sia assisted ‘Living Out Loud’. This year after parting ways with RCA she’s released a string of singles including ‘War’, ‘My Sex’ featuring Mykki Blanco and Pussy Riot, and ‘Nuts’ featuring Lil Aaron. While Candy is currently at work on her first full length album, she’s been accompanying Lizzo, Charli XCX and CupcakKe on tour as well as embarking on her own 2018 asian tour.
Celebrated for her empowering feminist ideals and fierce force within the LGBTQ community, lefthandloz and Blaze Caspar are proud to present Brooke Candy will be joined by an all female support lineup including EMWA and Half.Queen. You don’t want to miss out on one night only of Brooke Candy’s liberating supernatural fantasy.
