Press Release:

The much loved but rarely seen heavy trio Old Loaves, born in a dank Garrett Street flat, is returning to play their spiritual home of Wellington for the first time in four years. With members split between Auckland, Hamilton and Rotorua, the band is currently sitting on a new album slated for release in 2019. But for now, the end of 2018 will see the first physical release of their debut album from 2012, Drowser, as a limited-run cassette-only release through Press Gang Records on Friday 2 November. Drowser is limited to 50 cassettes and it is the final release from Press Gang Records.

Touring new material as well as the long-awaited release of Drowser, the upcoming North Island shows are bittersweet for the band. Six months ago, their friend and founding bass player, Kalem O’Brien, took his own life. Drowser was the last recorded document that the band made with Kalem. Old Loaves and Press Gang Records have decided to donate 100% of the profit from the sale of the Drowser cassettes to the 72 Club initiative, fundraising for Lifeline. Old Loaves drummer and Press Gang Records founder Cam Reid says that with the release of Drowser, “we hope we have found a fitting way to farewell our friend and the music that we made with him”.

To celebrate the release, Old Loaves will play Auckland and Wellington with new Hamilton outfit, Wakhan Corridor.

Wakhan Corridor are a 4 piece post-hardcore group comprised of current and former members of Hamilton screamo trio Hedge Fund Trader, shoegaze outfit Landlords and UK hardcore-punk group Never Again. Formed in early 2018, Wakhan Corridor released an eponymous ep consisting of 7 minutes of abrasive post hardcore reminiscent of Funeral Diner, City of Caterpillar and Ampere.

Cassette pre-sales of Drowser are now available through the Press Gang Records Bandcamp page.

Drowser cassettes will be available for purchase at the shows alongside records, new shirt designs from both bands, and the recently released cassette from Wakhan Corridor.
