Coinciding with the release of his new single The Highest Tree, Elroy has today announced his debut live performance as a solo artist.
Playing with a band comprising of a handful of his closest friends, this will be an intimate show at Whammy Backroom on Friday, April 13th showcasing music from Elroy's debut album, set for release later in 2018.
In between extensive touring with Wild Nothing, Liam and Neil Finn and Connan Mockasin, Elroy has crafted a lush and dreamy debut, recorded between Auckland, New York and Cairo. With a production aesthetic reminiscent of Grizzly Bear and Elliott Smith, the album features first single Worth The Wait and new single The Highest Tree.
I'm really excited to finally play these songs with an extremely talented band of close friends in my hometown. I will relish the opportunity to bring these songs out of the closet, through the bedroom, and on to the big stage.
Touted by NME as, a complete unknown and with US blog heavyweight Pitchfork weighing in to say that Elroy has, the innovation of Radiohead's chords, Nina Simone's intensity, with a sparkle of Frank Sinatra's eyes, it will only be a matter of time before the talent catches up to the hype.
