SORCERESS and BROCKAFLOWER, in association with Base FM and Radioactive, are coming together this August and September for two exclusive performances in Auckland and Wellington.
The creative duo at the core of SORCERESS (formally FUNKOMMUNITY) is vocalist Rachel Fraser and producer / band leader, Isaac Aesili. Their debut album ‘Chequered Thoughts’ was widely acclaimed around the world and saw them tour Europe and Japan. On the current album ‘Dose’, SORCERESS are exploring more directions in Soul Electronica. ‘Fans can expect that future-retro sound that we know so well from the likes of Georgia Anne Muldrow, Sonnymoon and Muhsinah – Dilla inspired’ – Okayplayer
Add jazz textures, bouncing bass lines and Rachel’s soulfully infectious voice – magic.
BROCKAFLOWER’s reputation for energetic and infectious live shows should not be missed. The (at times) monster 9-piece Neo-Soul, Experimental, Hip Hop collective will be laying down tunes from their recently released 11-track album ‘Build It’. NZ Musicians’ Magazine, Abraham Kunin states ‘Build It’ as “an accomplished and worthy link in the chain of Wellington’s soul-music geneology”. After a successful summer touring the album across New Zealand that included major festivals Rippon and Splore, Brockaflower find themselves in the studio working on an EP to salute the upcoming Summer 14/15. Tracks from ‘Build It’ and new dazzling material can be expected at these shows.
