Second show announced for Neko Case in Wellington:
Thur 21st January - San Francisco Bath House.
From her early ‘country noir’ flavoured releases Furnace Room Lullaby and Blacklisted, to the more recent Fox Confessor Brings the Flood and Middle Cyclone, Neko Case has established herself as one of the most interesting and arresting songwriters and vocalists to come out of North America. She has won a steadily growing cult audience for her smoky, rich vocals and the downcast beauty of her music.
Her latest and sixth studio album Middle Cyclone shot to the top of charts, debuting at #3 in the Billboard Top 200 in the USA. Critics were likewise rapt: “Neko Case is a force of nature. Her voice can knock you over-- it's one of the strongest in any genre” (Pitchfork); “The best album of her career by a generous margin” (The New Yorker); “her most fearless and arresting record, ruthlessly composed and beautifully recorded” (The Boston Phoenix). Yet Middle Cyclone is only the most recent high mark in a 13-year career which has seen her prowess as a performer and songwriter grow steadily alongside the size and devotion of her audience, both as a solo artist and as a member of supergroup New Pornographers.
Neko Case will be backed at all shows by her longtime 5-piece touring band, including lauded-in-their-own-right multi-instrumentalist Jon Rauhouse and vocalist Kelly Hogan.
