Listen: Opium Eater - Canis Major
Wellington outfit Opium Eater have unveiled their epic EP Canis Major, which translates to The Greater Dog. The four-piece formed last November and have been informed by a diverse set of influences, ranging from atmospheric drone through to apocalyptic-sounding sludge, to carve out their own "sludgescapes" in a live setting.
Guitarist and vocalist Craig Hero says the group diverted from their normal path when it came to recording Canis Major. "We collaborated with a violinist and made a single piece of music spanning 18 minutes ranging from extremely chill-atmospheric post-rock style of music that slowly builds into the sound we've become synonymous with at our live shows," he explains. Take a listen below...
Opium Eater will be performing Canis Major live in its entirety for the first time this Saturday 27th June at Meow in Wellington with support from Brave New Void and Hiboux. See below for more details.
