Odesza Returns For Two Shows In September

Seattle electronic duo Odeza are returning to New Zealand soil for two shows in September. The pair, who were on these shores in January for one sold-out show, are heading back to play Auckland again and have also added Wellington to their itinerary. Here are the details...

Update 18/08: The Auckland show has been moved to the St James Theatre. Current ticket holders are advised that their issued tickets are valid for the new venue.

Paint It Gold and George FM are thrilled to announce the return of much-hyped Seattle production duo ODESZA to New Zealand, bringing their dreamy, eclectic instrumental hip-hop to Wellington on Thursday September 24, and Auckland Friday September 25.

A recording project that began in 2012 between friends Harrison Mills (aka Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches) after graduating from college, ODESZA quickly gained international attention for their first release, LP Summer’s Gone. A mixture of sun-soaked melodies, glitched out vocals, crunchy drums and large sweeping bass lines, two tracks from the album ("How Did I Get Here" and "iPlayYouListen") reached #1 on the Hype Machine Popular chart, cementing the duo as a force in the underground electronic community.

The buzz around ODESZA continued to build in 2013 with the swift release of the My Friends Never Die EP; the duo established themselves as an exhilarating touring act. The shows unfolded in an ever-growing stream with a massive tour supporting Pretty Lights followed by an epic festival circuit, winning over new oceans of fans. The boys followed through in September 2014 with the release of aptly named sophomore album In Return. Displaying a rich and colourful compilation of dreamy jams, the record drips with rarely paralleled beat music sophistication, especially in the treatment of their many guest vocals. This is party music for when you think the party’s over -- it’s really only getting started. ODEZSA “feels like crashing down a waterfall on a bouquet of roses with Flying Lotus as your chauffeur”, according to Vice’s Thump magazine.

ODESZA’s first U.S. headline tour earlier in 2014 had numerous sold out shows across the country culminating in a storming set at Coachella, which served as a launchpad for a string of further US shows. Fans worldwide have pined their way through countless sunsets in the hopes that the ODESZA boys will hit their local club one night soon.

ODESZA last visited our shores in January with a sold out show at Auckland’s Kings Arms and this tour sees a venue upgrade for Auckland and the band heading to Wellington for the first time.
