New Zealand Music Streaming Site Launches
A streaming service has been launched by NZ On Air to help music lovers discover local sounds. The site, called All Tracks, is divided into seven genres: Folk & Country, Dance & Electronic, Alt & Indie, Hip Hop & RnB, Pop, Reggae & Roots and Rock & Metal. Each section is curated by people who are well-versed in their particular genre, for example, steering the Rock & Metal section is Bryce Casey of The Rock FM, while the Reggae & Roots section is helmed by musician Barnaby Weir. The curated playlists will be updated weekly and are available to stream on a variety of platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Soundcloud.
The initiative is intended to cater increasing numbers of people listening to music online. "We wanted to make it easy for people to enjoy the type of New Zealand music they like, on the streaming services they use," NZOA assistant music Sarah Crowe told the NZ Herald. "To put it simply, we want people to be able to find the great music coming from New Zealand among the overwhelming amount of content, in the easiest way possible." The launch of All Tracks is timed nicely to coincide with New Zealand Music Month as well as NZOA's own 25th anniversary.
