Love Thy Neighbour: C.W. Stoneking - Get On The Floor

These days it seems there's a whole swarm of throwback blues acts to choose from, but something about the scratchy voice of C.W. Stoneking makes it feel the real-deal genuine article. The slicked haired Melbourne multi-instrumentalist has tucked a few albums under his buckle in the last 15 years, most recently the 2008 offering Jungle Blues, which came out via his own label King Hokum Records, and received five ARIA nominations.

The talent troubadour is now poised to release new record Gon’ Boogaloo next month which, if the single 'Get On The Floor' is anything to go by, will be a electric blend of blues and swamp rock. The forthcoming release also has a New Zealand connection, it was tracked at Victoria-based studio Sound Recordings which is helmed by analogue-fiend Alex Bennett, who until a year or so ago was living in Auckland and playing with the likes of Raw Nerves.
