The duo of Huiming Wu on guitar / bass / ghuzheng (a Chinese plucked zither) and percussionist / multi-instrumentalist Maxwell Brown, 花溪 Flowerstream have been a sonically distinct presence on Tāmaki Makaurau's stages over the past few years. Certainly worth the wait, their debut Flowers Dream EP is an imaginative universe of sound expressed in miniature, like a terrarium of tunes. Frantic opener '开始 Kāishǐ' is a snapshot of pair's improvisational energy, segueing into the transcendent dream-pop swoonery of 'Air Talk', then riding down gently fried psychedelic cycleways on 'Instant Zen'.

Lead single 'Procrastination Inspiration' finds them returning to zoned vocal / instrumental interplay, the chiming meditations of 'Already Over' provide a short textural interlude, then closer 'Flying Sofa' offers plush aural resplendence, like a floating throne drifting into the night sky.
