Finn Johansson 'Love Bomb' Tour Announced
Wellington songwriter Finn Johansson is zooming around the country this July with a tour lined up in support of his upcoming single 'Love Bomb', joined on selected dates by full five piece band. He promises some highly collectible merch for the tour, including special 'Love Bomb' perfume crafted by artist Nathan Taare (ENT), with the singer stating "a single tear is mixed into every batch." Listen to Johansson's reflective contribution to the Two Daze compilation 'I Know Exactly How Big My Heart Is'...
Press release:
Fresh off the back of a 7 Acetate collaboration with Wellington songwriter Dick Whyte (What Kind Of Bird Am I) an invitation-only 48hr songwriting/recording project for NZ Music Month (I Know Exactly How Big My Heart Is), and live appearances with Wellington heroes ONONO and Emily Fairlight, songwriter and producer Finn Johansson is dropping the tune that people, when they talk to him after shows, rave about. If they rave about anything.
'Love Bomb' is evocative but not fancy, groovy but not in a stupid way, achingly sad but not hopeless.
Lots of that is down to Johansson's new-found production partnership with Jono Nott (BROODS, ONONO, Hans Pucket). Basically everything Finn is a bit shit at, Jono excels at, and the two aim to carry this symbiosis through into a full-length release in 2019.
Rounding out the personnel is Anita Clark (Motte, New Dawn), whose cinematic string arrangements feature on the track.
The accompanying video is directed by Ezra Simons, whose work includes videos for Mermaidens and The Beths.
Finn and band are lucky enough to be joined by the fantastic:Wellington acid rock three-piece Linen, fronted by Emerald Rose of the legendary Draghound.
and
Motte! The incredible Anita Clark. Motte is reverb swamped violin through delay, recorded in the bedroom/somewhere in the tropics or a hothouse full of moths.
