Dudley Benson Covers Shona Laing's '(Glad I'm) Not a Kennedy' + Video
Dunedin singer and producer Dudley Benson has returned with an affecting reimagining of Shona Laing's iconic hit single '(Glad I'm) Not a Kennedy'. Benson's cover is accompanied by a self-directed video produced in collaboration with Nom*d and director of photography Phoebe Lysbeth Kay. The clip depicts the stylishly garbed artist dancing and singing his artful reinterpretation of Laing's politically-charged tune through the rooms of historic home Olveston House, using the site to reflect on the impact of colonialism in Aotearoa. Benson shared a few words on his new single via social media, stating "I love singing about death and politics!"
