Listen To Kosmetika's Debut Single 'Ya Uedu'
Melbourne-based fuzz-pop duo Kosmetika features the combined talents of Auckland's Mike Ellis (Surf City, water, No Aloha, Ghost Wave, Space Ventura) and Khabarovsk, Russia's Veeka Nazarova, who've just unveiled their infectious debut single 'Ya Uedu'. The tune is a crackling collision of zig-zagging guitars, psychedelic keys and super catchy vocals sung in Russian. Recorded in Grey Lynn and Melbourne with James Sullivan on drums, it's the first sonic outpouring from an upcoming collection titled Pop Soap. We had to know more, so we hit up Ellis who spilled the beans on his new project...
"The song is part of a nine track album that will be released sometime in the next couple of months. (It) was all recorded in my bedroom in Grey Lynn and our new bedroom in Parkville, Melbourne - which we moved into a couple of months ago. Veeka grew up in Russia so the album has a mixture of Russian and English lyrics - this first song is obviously a Russian one. We take turns singing on different tracks."
