Watch Meer's Powerful Video For 'Rotten'
Auckland hip hop artist Meer (Reem Nabhani of COOL TAN) has unveiled a video for 'Rotten', drawn from her excellent debut collection Kushari. The stylishly shot, single-take clip directed by Frances Carter depicts Meer strolling through back streets, busting out her rhymes over moody and unsettling club beats. When the single originally dropped it was accompanied by a trigger warning due to themes relating to sexual abuse and violence, with Meer stating “This track is about sexual abuse and domestic violence. It’s for anyone who has ever been silenced, who has felt unaccepted and unwanted. This shit is not okay, so let’s talk about it.” Aucklanders can catch the artist performing at Portland Public House this coming Friday with fellow COOL TAN collaborator Dbldbl (who was also on track production duties for 'Rotten'), watch the video below...
