Premiere: Auckland Trio Wax Chattels Cut Loose Video For 'It'
Wax Chattels are lifting the lid off an electrifying new video for 'It' as they launch into Part II of their North Island tour this weekend, which will culminate in an epic showcase at Whammy Bar on Saturday in an effort to raise funds for their upcoming jaunt through Asia.
The monochromatic clip was directed by Zac Blair with help from producer Taylor MacGregor and DOP Kent Belcher, and sees the Auckland post-punk trio in the full throes of their live performance which (as we experienced at The Others Way recently) is a force to behold. The track itself was recorded an produced by Jonathan Pearce and exudes their trademark intensity on multiple levels, as the band explained to UTR in a statement:
"The lyrics are confrontational and address an immediate, insatiable desire for sex. The two dissonant notes played down low on the organ makes Peter's fuzz pedal flip out, creating the rhythmically pulsing effect in the intro. This sound actually dictated the tempo of the song and the structure creates a sense of discomfort and impatience."
