Live Photos: Aldous Harding - Hollywood Cinema, Auckland (+ New Video For 'Horizon')
Formidable folk talent Aldous Harding capped off last week in a big way with two absolutely stunning shows at the historic Hollywood Cinema in Avondale, along with announcing her signing to British label 4AD and as a cherry on top she unveiled a heart-stopping video for her single 'Horizon'. The track is the first single to surface from Harding's forthcoming second album Party, and shows a deepening intensity and maturing of the musician's sound since the release of her incredible self-titled debut in 2014. The accompanying video, directed by Charlotte Evans, features Harding's own mother as the musician explains in a statement:
"I want the interpretation of 'Horizon' to be left up to the individual. It’s for everyone, it’s pretty straightforward. I was listening to the demo at Mums place and she just, got up and started doing her thing. I was transfixed, actually. I thought about how it might look on film, an older version of myself dancing with honour to a song sung by essentially the same face.”
The record is out during the first half of 2017 via Flying Nun in New Zealand and 4AD elsewhere. Check out the video for 'Horizon' below....
And here are Dave Simpson's excellent photos from Friday night's show at Hollywood Cinema, which was supported by Bob Scott and poet Hera Lindsay Bird...
