Listen: Cleophus - kinghayesfarm
Cleophus, one half of K' Rd rhyme merchants Badcorp, has shared a raw and honest new solo EP, titled Gumbo. One of the most introspective and probing tracks, ‘kinghayesfarm’, includes audio excerpts of his own birth. Conceived of Cleophus’ SP-404 sampler, the track builds in tension with samples of hospital equipment and family dialogue, layers weave subtly in-and-out to paint a vivid sonic picture.
The eight-song EP is being unveiled via The Grow Room label, who say of the release: “This is a wholly expository and intimate body of work, the artists guard is down and we as listeners have access to material connected to deeply-rooted experiences, histories, beliefs and mental dialogue”.
