The Rubens Announce Two New Zealand Shows

Australian alt-rock outfit The Rubens have announced two New Zealand dates for October. Hailing from Menangle in New South Wales, the blues-influenced band is comprised three Margin brothers Zaac, Sam and Elliott, and their friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis.

After supporting Dragon for their New Zealand tour last September, the group are jumping the ditch again for their first headline tour on these shores, and we've heard whispers there is a strong possibility of some South Island shows being thrown into the mix. Here are the details so far...

ANNOUNCE FIRST EVER NEW ZEALAND HEADLINE TOUR.

After what has been their biggest year to date, Australia’s The Rubens make good on their word and return for their first ever headline tour of New Zealand.

Bursting onto the scene in 2012 with their Platinum-certified debut The Rubens, the three NSW born brothers plus two friends are no strangers to success. The album debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart and earned The Rubens three ARIA Award nominations, while thumping track ‘My Gun’ picked up both Rock Work of the Year at 2013’s APRA Music Awards and a spot in the top 10 of triple j 2012 Hottest 100.

The momentum behind The Rubens’ trademark bluesy rock sound continues to grow following their massive triple j Hottest 100 win earlier this year with their anthemic platinum single ‘Hoops’. Lifted from their sophomore album of the same name, Hoops (out now through Ivy League Records) debuted at #2 on the ARIA Album Chart and continues to sit in the Top 100 since its August release. The band made movements internationally supporting fellow NZ natives, The Naked & Famous on their big headline tour in North America earlier this year.

Whether playing to tens of thousands of people at Splendour in the Grass (2015) or an intimate show for a few lucky fans, The Rubens have proven time and time again that they are a force to be reckoned with on the live stage. Not their first time across the Tasman; in 2012, they supported Ohio blues rock duo, The Black Keys on their arena tour. In 2015 the band came back to do a similar size tour with Imagine Dragons. This will be the first time NZ fans can witness the band in club venues.
