We're delighted to announced that Delaney Davidson and Marlon Williams have decided to extend their current national tour to include one final show at The Tuning Fork at Vector Arena, before they head off to work on solo records and tour overseas for the rest of the year.
Since the release of their nationally acclaimed Sad But True - The Secret History of Country Music Songwriting Vol. 1, the pair have found themselves in high demand. Their debut outing as a duo was praised for seamlessly harmonising the young ‘clean’ voice of Marlon with the ‘darker’ vocals of Delaney, and 2013 saw the album recognised at the New Zealand Country Music Awards, winning both the Best Song and Best Album awards. Since then, the pair have released two more installments, and their current tour follows on the January release of Sad But True Vol III.
Sometimes just two voices, sometimes a full rhythmic trance, the deep blues to local folk stories, the pair slip between the sinner on Saturday night and the sorry of Sunday morning. Believing in music as celebration, and each performance as an opportunity to explore a true vision of songwriting from the bottomless barrel of songs they share, they now welcome the chance to leave the beaten track.
Davidson says “People love songs, old ones they used to hear with their grandparents, or new ones. It connects them to each other through story, the past and an older experience where music feels like it’s always been there”
